Slovene Public Opinion Survey

This series began as a set of surveys conducted in ten West European societies by the European Value Systems Study Group (EVSSG). The World Values Survey (WVS) grew out of those surveys and was initiated in 1981 to study the values and attitudes of mass publics across nations of different economic, educational, and cultural backgrounds. The World Values Survey enables cross-national comparison of values and norms in a wide variety of areas and monitoring of changes in values and attitudes of mass publics in societies around the world. European/World Values Survey

Abstract

This is a Slovene replication of EVS99 survey. Broad topics covered are work, the meaning and purpose of life, family life, and contemporary social issues: religious and moral values, role if women, ecology, inequality, education of children etc. Several questions are dedicated to political activity, views of society, integration of individuals into society, measured with their membership in various social associations, and level of trust in society. Level of social distance towards different marginal social groups, level of contentment with life, and attitude towards work are also addressed.
