Slovene Public Opinion Survey

This study is part of the 1990-92 survey coordinated by the Institute of Sociology, Budapest, Institute of Political Science, Budapest (János Simon), Wissenschaftszentrum, Berlin (H. D. Klingemann) and Center for German and European Studies, Georgetown (Samuel Barnes). The data for other countries will be available soon as an outcome of the joint effort with the German data archive ZA. The survey was again replicated in 1999 (ADP IDNo. SJM991).

Consolidation of Democracy in Central and Eastern Europe

Abstract

Study begins with replication of international Transition to democracy survey. Topics include understanding of democracy, evaluation of functioning of political institutions, economic situation, party system and elections. Most of the indicators are adapted from standard literature on western democracies. Second part consists of the permanent study about public attitudes toward defence preparnes and army. Special emphasis is on NATO integration. The questionnaire concludes with the large block of standard SJM demographic variables.
