Slovenian Public Opinion (SJM) survey series closely resembles the type of General Social Surveys, well known in other countries. The aim is to provide the scientific community with relevant data about changes in subjective perceptions and attitudes of general population. The topics, which are repeated each year, beginning with 1968, are evaluations of general and economic situation in society, interethnic relations in Slovenia and Yugoslavia, politics, ecology and religion. Main part of survey deal with the question of national security in a context of the process of gaining national independence in Slovenia and the role of Yugoslav army there. Some of the questions were repeated later in a SJM National Security subtitles. Second theme deal with problems of ecology and strategies of overcoming them with the focus on situation in Slovenia. In next years some of those questions repeats together with formulations from ISSP Ecology modules.
