Abstract
Detailed determination of media usage, the search for information as
well as information and leisure behavior of the respondent in the area
of Duesseldorf and vicinity, scheduled for the test introduction of
terminal text. Use of technical devices, extent to which informed about
new media and information desires.
Three surveys were conducted.
Topics: 1. Oral survey of the target person: time length, type and
frequency of media used; use of reference works, school books,
non-fiction books, reference books, catalogs, telephone books and
street maps; use of telephone information services of the Post Office
such as e.g. time check, street condition report, weather forecast and
telephone services; classification of the importance of sources of
information in the area of favorable shopping opportunities, health
questions, cooking recipes, vacation offerings and advice on money
questions; use of classified advertisements in daily newspapers and
free advertisers; occupational and private use of typewriter, telex,
copier, calculator, dictating machine, radio-telephone equipment, car
telephone, text processing machine, computers and telephone answering
devices; retention of bills, bank account statements, newspapers and
magazines; knowledge about the function of video recorders, video text,
cable television and terminal text; degree of familiarity of the
terminal text experiment; reading newspapers and carrying out private
matters during working hours; political interest; decision behavior;
course of the day and daily leisure time; vision problems; distance to
place of work; size of circle of friends.
2. Written survey about equipment of household with items for
information and entertainment: number, age and equipment of televisions
available in household; possession of a telephone and possession of
entertainment electronics equipment; planned acquisition of a color
television; magazines regularly received; book possession; possession
of bank accounts; detailed...
