Abstract
Attitudes towards air quality management.Topics: self-rated knowledge about problems of air quality in the own country; development of air quality in the own country over the last ten years; assessment of each of the following issues as a serious consequence of air pollution: respiratory diseases, cardio-vascular diseases, asthma and allergy, acidification, eutrophication; assessment of the impact of each of the following issues on air quality in the own country: residential energy use, agricultural emissions, road traffic emissions, international transport emissions, industrial production emissions; main threats to air quality in the own country; most environmentally friendly car fuel systems with regard to air quality; most environmentally friendly home heating systems with regard to air quality; personal measures taken to reduce harmful emissions into the air; most effective measures to improve air quality; sufficient action taken to improve air quality in the own country by: households, farmers, energy producers, car manufacturers, public authorities; approval of the ´Polluters Pays Principle´ (PPP); preferred level of action in tackling air pollution: EU, national, regional or local; attitude towards additional EU measures; awareness of the EU ´Thematic Strategy on Air Pollution´; main priorities of the strategy; awareness of EU air quality standards; assessment of the appropriateness of the existing standards; awareness of the ´National Emission Ceilings Directive´; assessment of the appropriateness of the ´National Emission Ceilings Directive´; sufferance from respiratory problems; types of energy to be prioritized over the next 30 years; attitude towards shale gas projects in own neighbourhood; attitude towards the development of consistent approaches within the EU with regard to managing unconventional fossil fuels extraction.
