Abstract
Attitudes towards waste management and resource efficiency.Topics: importance of efficient resource use in Europe; impact of more efficient resource use on the following issues in the own country: economic growth, employment opportunities, quality of life; most important measures with regard to efficient resource use; attitude towards the following statements: own country is generating too much waste, own household is generating too much waste, efforts to reduce waste in own household; personal measures taken to reduce amount of household waste; reasons for not taking measures; sorting of selected types of waste; preconditions to sort (more) waste; preferred way of financing the management of household waste: flat rate, payment in proportion to generated waste, costs included in product price; estimation of the percentage of food bought in the own household going to waste; helpful measures to reduce food waste; most important factors with regard to the purchase of durable products; readiness to buy selected second hand products; reasons for not buying second hand products; use of alternatives to buying new products: buy remanufactured product, lease or rent product, use sharing schemes; reasons for not using alternatives to buying new products; attitude towards the following statements on plastic waste: better information on recyclability of products needed, stop of production of non-recyclable products, reduction of the use of single use items, interdiction of micro plastic particles, prohibition of disposal of plastic waste in landfill sites, more local authority action, more industry action; amount of litter in respondent’s residential area; kind of litter; most efficient measures to reduce littering; approval of the development of an EU-level target to reduce litter entering the oceans.
