Abstract
The social, occupational, economic and psychological situation of guest
workers in Cologne.
Topics: Earlier image of Germany; utilization of sources of
information for guest workers; occupation learned; reasons for taking
up work in the FRG; current occupation; extent to which informed about
the occupation in the FRG before leaving native country; change of job;
work satisfaction (scale); contact with colleagues and relationship
with superiors; person to confide in at work; work accident; traffic
accident and assignment of blame; difficulties in the FRG; length of
stay in the FRG; regional and social origins; origins of wife; place of
residence of children; monthly savings and sending money home; use of
the money in the native country; contacts with the native country;
number of trips home; participation in a German language course; course
of the day during the week and on weekends; illnesses during the stay
in Germany; contacts with German families; media usage; interest in
broadcasts for guest workers; desired facilities for foreigners in the
Federal Republic; topics of conversation in one´s circle of friends;
