Abstract

General shopping habits and questions on baby food. Topics: 1. General shopping habits: the one responsible in one´s family for purchase of groceries as well as durable economic goods; type of business in which selected goods of daily need are purchased; type and frequency of visits or use of selected shopping places and mail-order firms; preference for fresh produce, canned food or frozen food; type of meal preparation. 2. Questions on baby supplies: age of baby; use of cloth diapers or throwaway diapers and brand used; duration of style; frequency of preparation of one´s own baby food as well as type and frequency of use of ready-to-serve baby foods; type of sterilization technology for baby bottles; detailed determination of preferred type of businesses for purchase of baby products; brand name of preferred baby care products; use of German products on vacation trips to native country; companies of greatest trust in the area of baby food and baby care products; type of remedies and medication purchased in pharmacies. 3. The following additional questions were posed given larger children in the family: dental hygiene products used for the child; preferred products for snacks for children; products used to increase capability of children; monthly expenditures of child for candy and monthly budget for children´s clothing; annual expenditures for children´s toys; favorite drinks of children and adults in the family. Miscellaneous: television habits and paying attention to commercial television broadcasts; listening habits and paying attention to radio advertising; understanding of advertising broadcasts; possession of videorecorder and preference for German or Turkish films; reading habits; self-assessment of German and Turkish language proficiency; immigration year and desired length of stay in the Federal Republic; car possession and frequency of use of the Federal Railway.
