Abstract

This project seeks to find out how teachers qualifications can be one of the factors to explain the difference between students achievement in Sogn og Fjordane and three other counties in Norway: Aust-Agder, Oppland and Nord-Trøndelag. A questionnaire was sent to the muncipalities in the four counties. The data collection involved sending questionnaires to all municipalities in Sogn og Fjordane, Aust-Agder, Oppland, and Nord-Trøndelag, with questions about: - Average grade in the final exam in mathematics at the class level - Education level of subject teachers in 8th, 9th, and 10th grade - Length of teaching practice of subject teachers - Data from 2010 - 2013
