Abstract

Since the early 1970s the European Commission´s Standard & Special Eurobarometer are regularly monitoring the public opinion in the European Union member countries. Principal investigators are the Directorate-General Communication and on occasion other departments of the European Commission or the European Parliament. Over time, candidate and accession countries were included in the Standard Eurobarometer Series. Selected questions or modules may not have been surveyed in each sample. Please consult the basic questionnaire for more information on country filter instructions or other questionnaire routing filters. In this study the following modules are included: 1. European Union Humanitarian Aid (ECHO), 2. Domestic violence against women, 3. Public health: mental well-being.Topics: 1. European Union Humanitarian Aid (ECHO): knowledge of organizations that provide or finance humanitarian aid; knowledge of the funding of humanitarian aid activities of the EU in countries outside the European Union and importance of this support; self-rated knowledge about the humanitarian aid activities of the EU and importance of this support; humanitarian aid is more efficient if provided by each Member State separately versus by the EU. 2. Domestic violence against women: knowledge about violence against women and source of information; assessment of the spread of domestic violence against women in the own country; assessment of the intensity of psychological, physical and sexual violence against women and the threats of violence and restricted freedom; Assessment of the causes of domestic violence against women: alcoholism, drug addiction, unemployment, poverty, social exclusion, the media, religious beliefs, low education level, own experiences of violence, power distribution between sexes, male perspective on women, provocative behavior of women, genetic predisposition; own acceptance of violence against women; competent organizations to to help women affected by domestic...
