Slovene Public Opinion Survey

The European Social Survey (ESS) is a multi-country survey covering over 20 nations. European Social Survey

Abstract

Survey is a part of European project, which is conducted simultaneously in 21 countries. The purpose of the project is to register social changes in time. Survey focuses on two main topics: comprehension and practice of citizenship and attitudes toward immigration. Questionnaire consists of six clusters of questions. The first, relatively short one, cluster contains questions attendance to the media. In the second cluster, there are questions on the government and politics in general, and other, includes attitudes toward politics, trust in political institutions, voting behaviour and party preferences, and satisfaction with performance of political institutions. Next cluster is dedicated to interviewees' personal life: relations with friends, personal security, religious affiliation, and national origin. In the fourth cluster one can find questions on problematic of immigrants. Interviewees first assess the scope and country of origin of immigrants in Slovenia and express theirs views of restrictive immigration policy. Questions on attitudes toward immigrants and personal experiences with them follow next. At the end, a few questions probe problematic of refugees. The fifth cluster is on voluntary organizations and their relevance for interviewees' everyday life. Large demographic bloc, which ends with questions used by interviewees to assess their personal characteristics, concludes the questionnaire.Survey is a part of European project, which is conducted simultaneously in 21 countries.
