Slovene Public Opinion Survey

Slovenian Public Opinion (SJM) survey series closely resembles the type of General Social Surveys, well known in other countries. The aim is to provide the scientific community with relevant data about changes in subjective perceptions and attitudes of general population. Abstract

Purpose of the survey is to establish factors that influence relations toward European Union and NATO, and it is third repetition of the survey on this subject. Questionnaire consists of eight clusters of questions. The first cluster contains questions on general living conditions in Slovenia, interviewee household's material well being, its financial situation, and on expected economic conditions in near future. In the second cluster, there are questions on value orientations, attitude toward different social phenomena and groups, and trust in social institutions. The third cluster is dedicated to questions on joining the EU, knowledge about enlargement process, interest in EU, consequences of EU membership, and relations between Slovenia and EU. In the fourth cluster, questions on assessment of state institutions activities can be found. The fifth cluster is on political orientations, attitude toward political parties, and party preferences. Sixth cluster brings forward questions on NATO; knowledge about NATO and enlargement process, attitudes toward NATO, should there be a referendum on joining NATO, would Slovenia be more threatened as a NATO member, and views on NATO in general.
