Abstract
Since 1989, school elections have been held at the upper secondary schools in connection with parliamentary, municipal and county council elections. The school election is an important part of the election campaign of the party political youth organizations. The purpose is nevertheless first and foremost to be a pedagogical tool in the work of increasing political competence and interest among young people. The present data file is from a survey conducted at the same time as the school election in 2017. In the schools that participate in the school election survey, students first vote in the school election and then answer the survey.
20,382 students from 84 schools answered the questions in the 2017 election survey.
This file is an extract from the complete data file. Based on the variables "region" and "simplified education program", we have created this file which is more representative of the population "students in upper secondary education in the autumn of 2017". Due to low support in some counties, including Oslo, Vest-Agder, Vestfold and Østfold, it was not appropriate to publish the data at county level as in previous years. The low support in the more densely populated counties gives a certain skew in the data material.
