Abstract
Since 1989, school elections have been held at the upper secondary schools in connection with parliamentary, municipal and county council elections. The school election is an important part of the election campaign of the party political youth organizations. The purpose is nevertheless first and foremost to be a pedagogical tool in the work of increasing political competence and interest among young people. The present data file is from a survey conducted at the same time as the school election in 2019. At the schools that participate in the school election survey, students first vote in the school election and then answer the survey.
16,834 students from 80 schools answered the questions in the 2019 school election project.
This file is an extract from the complete data file. Based on the variables "region" and "simplified education program", we have created this file which is more representative of the population "students in upper secondary education in the autumn of 2019". In the school election 2019, the pupils have voted for the county council after the regional reform which enters into force on 1 January 2020, thus we have chosen to publish data for the new regions. Due to low support in a couple of regions, we have merged these with neighboring regions. This applies to the region Innlandet, which here was merged with Viken, and Agder, which was merged with Rogaland.
