Abstract

Political fundamental philosophies, political participation and judgement on international relations by German young people as well as younger adults. Topics: self-image of Germans; self-assessment of progressiveness; fair share of national product for young people; attitude to observance of law and order; situations of not obeying laws; attitude to demonstrations and to a larger proportion of developing countries with prosperity; satisfaction with the political system in the FRG and preferred changes in the system; reasons for dissatisfaction; political interest and political participation; personal participation in political actions and protests; consideration of general citizen interests by the government; attitude to the DKP and extremists in the civil service; attitude to the USA and various other countries; judgement on the influence of the FRG in the world and attitude to a claim to leadership by the FRG; most important goals of a preferred foreign policy; attitude to NATO and cooperation of the FRG with the USA or Europe; judgement on the future influence of communists in Western Europe; accepted decision-making responsibility for a European Government; personal opinion leadership in political questions; self-assessment on a left-right continuum; personal election participation and behavior at the polls in the Federal Parliament election (ballot procedure, first and second votes); party preference; party identification; religiousness. Scales: political activity, democratic attitude, old and new political values, political repression, supranationalism, political and economic human rights.
