Abstract

Political attitudes before the election for the House of Representatives in Berlin. Topics: most important political problem of the city; intent to participate in the election for the House of Representatives and party preference (first and second votes); behavior at the polls in the last election; sympathy scale for the parties at federal and municipal level; satisfaction with achievements of the Senate as well as the opposition parties (scale); sympathy scale for the leading politicians of the city; order of party preference; attitude to absolute majority of a party in the House of Representatives; coalition preference; preferred mayor; comparison of the top candidates, Diepgen and Momper; comparison of the economic situation of Berlin with that of the Federal Republic; issue competence of the two major parties in economic questions, housing policy, the public health system, policies on the job market and regarding foreigners; attitude to policies towards foreigners of the Republicans; job security; perceived threat from the East; security of peace; attitude to protection by the Allies; assumed taking seats in the House of Representatives by the FDP; most active party in the election campaign; significance of election for the future of Berlin; attitude to taking seats in the House of Representatives by the Republicans; assumed election winner; Berliners and big mouth; living together with a partner; completed government examination, diploma or completed journeymen´s test; civil service career as well as service rank for soldiers; religiousness; union membership.
