Abstract

This data set is obtained from the survey "Working conditions for teachers 1995" which includes teachers, principals and inspectors in primary, comprehensive and high school schools and was conducted by Statistics Norway for "Lærerforbundet". It was asked how much of the working hours the respondents are exposed to: high workload, high concentration demands, large tasks, and management of deadlines and procedures, the management and colleagues. Physical workload was measured among else with questions about how much of the time they are exposed to dry air and stressful postures. It was further asked about influence on their own work, how often respondents experience stressful situations such as conflicts with the management, colleagues and pupils and parents and how often they are depressed because of criticism of their job. The more subjective expression of the burden was measured with questions about how often they think of the job in their spare time, and how often they are, because of work, physically and mentally tired, have trouble sleeping and pain in various parts of the body. In addition, sick leave and health was mapped.
