Abstract

Main Topics:

Variables
The results for each general election from 1955 to 1979 form separate sub-files. Each case contains results from the previous election. In addition to number of electors and votes cast each case (constituency) has a regional code and a quartile value based on turnout. Results are also expressed as percentage of electorate voting for party, and there is a coded variable for size of constituency. Also given are the party of the winner and runner-up.
