Ecology.
This study number comprises the data collected during the so called
main studies. The main studies represent three surveys which have
partially been used for methodic experiments. The questions are
identical in every survey except for the described differences.
Topics: time budget for general media consumption (television, radio,
newspaper, internet) as well as time budget for political
information/programs in printed media and on the internet; private use
of the internet; trust in media (press, radio broadcasting, television,
internet); concerns about the environment; most important general and
personal environmental issues in Germany (air pollution, chemicals and
pesticides, water crisis, water pollution, atomic waste, domestic waste
disposal, climate change, genetically modified food, depletion of
(natural) resources; self-reported knowledge about causes and solutions
of environmental issues; attitude towards environmental issues,
economic growth, higher taxes and prices; the respondent´s willingness
to accept reductions in standard of living in order to protect the
environment; evaluation of environmental hazards; preferred future
energy sources; knowledge test about nuclear power plants;
participation in activities for environmental protection; Top-Bottom
self-placement; fair share of gross national product; fulfilment or
non-fulfilment of personal goals; educational opportunity according to
personal skills; own experiences with a low household income; dissave
to defray costs of living; cutting down on holidays or on the purchase
of home appliances; own or rent dwelling; questions regarding social
desirability: environmental behaviour, behaviour in situations of
acknowledgement of one´s fault,behaviour in traffic, taking one´s anger
out on others, exploiting of other persons, attention in conversations,
helpfulness, commitment to given promises, talking behind people´s
back, living on other people´s expenses, behaviour in stressful
situations,...
