Eurobarometer, Norwegian part

From 1971, the Europan Commision has conducted the Eurobarometer survey in the EU member states. In the periods of 1990-1996 and 1999-2002, NSD has conducted selected parts of these surveys in Norway.

Abstract

The survey was a parallel survey to the Standard Eurobarometer 58.0, and was conducted in the same way and time period as in the EU-countries. The Norwegian data are part of the integrated data set that is available for researchers worldwide. The Standard Eurobarometer is a set of surveys that is administrated and financed by the European commission. It aims to gather information on social, economic and political conditions in the member countries. All Standard Eurobarometer surveys contain certain trend questions on the knowledge of and attitudes towards the EU and the process of European integration. In 1999, the EU commision and the Norwegian Ministry of Church, Education and Research made an agreement on the conduction of parallel surveys for the Eurobarometer in Norway. NSD was assigned the role of conducting the surveys in Norway, and up until 2002, there were conducted a total of four such surveys. From 2005, the Norwegian version of Eurobarometer was made a part of the central EU survey management, and is therefore administered from Brussels. The subject of this survey is biotechnology and information technology.
