Abstract

As the title “international survey on the circumstances in life (Internationale Erhebung zur Lebenslage) already expresses, the following survey is Austria’s contribution to an international survey conducted by the OECD (=Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development). The OECD is the organisation of the western industrialized countries responsible for cooperation in economic policy. Over the last years, the OECD has incorporated social matters into their program of work to a greater degree. By means of this international survey, new information on certain social questions should be gained for all participating countries. Therefore, the special survey should give information on the connection of occupation, health and leisure behaviour. This program is an attempt to evaluate the interaction of certain factors (e.g. occupation and state of health) to gain a comprehensive picture of the situation of certain population groups in the participating countries.
