Abstract

This Mikrozensus special surveys is on the habits of consumption of cultural offers and leisure behaviour of the Austrian population. This had already the topic of surveys conducted in 1972 (Mikrozensus MZ7202), 1985 (Mikrozensus MZ8504) and 1992 (Mikrozensus MZ9204). This program contains the questions on the attendance of cultural events, reading habits, preferences for radio programmes, TV programmes and videos, and whether the interviewee was an active participant of a club or group. With regard to leisure time activities, the questions were not only on cultural and gaming activities but also on the field of everyday culture such as going out or going to bars and pubs and gardening. With regard to sporty activities it was of interest whether the mentioned sports were done in a sports club, a fitness centre or a commercial hobby club or with or without a trainer or supervisor. The question on pets living in the household was important for the leisure behaviour.
