Abstract

Diaconia Barometers chart the diaconal workers' views and experiences of their work. The survey examined, among others, changes in work tasks, diaconal cooperation, and views of diaconal work. Regarding changes in work tasks, the respondents were asked which tasks had increased and decreased in the previous two years. Diaconal cooperation was surveyed by asking about the increase/decrease of cooperation with the municipality, civic society and businesses. Views of diaconal work were charted by asking the respondents whether they agreed with a number of statements about diaconia (e.g. "In diaconal work customers don't know what to ask and we don't know what to offer", "Diaconia helps those whose needs are the greatest"). Background variables included the respondent's year of birth, education, length of work history in diaconal work, and number of inhabitants in the municipality.
