Abstract

Attitude to the GDR, valuations on international policy, the international balance of power and military organizations, stand on defense preparedness and military service, participation in pre-military training. Topics: Goals in life such as high achievements, travels, making an effort for socialism and peace, having money, leading a pleasant life and founding a family; attitude to the victory of socialism; solidarity with the GDR; attitude to the Soviet Union and its army, the Marxist-Leninist world view; evaluation of the connection of imperialism and war or socialism and peace; constructing socialist society in the GDR; significance of the Geneva negotiations about nuclear and space weapons; membership in mass organizations, SED; possibility of preventing a war through peace forces; evaluation of aggressiveness of imperialist states (scale); evaluation of policies of the FRG government; assessment of the character of the Federal German Armed Forces and of the readiness of the soldiers of the Federal German Armed Forces to shoot; assessment of the balance of power between imperialism and socialism; willingness to defend the GDR and reasons for or against this (scale); attitude to military service; preferred period of service: basic military service or serving longer; reasons for preference of basic military service or longer service (scale); stand of girl friend on decision to serve longer; expected effects of military service on personal development (scale); expected difficulties in military service such as observance of order and discipline, adaptation, physical and mental demands (scale); preference of an active or passive stand as soldier; influence of planets on character and fate of people; knowledge of terms of foreign policy such as peaceful co-existence, star wars; knowledge of political personalities; interest in politics; frequency of use of GDR and FRG media for political information and preferred position; frequency of...
