As in all Eastern European countries, political jokes were very popular in Slovenia during the socialist era. In the decades after the fall of socialism, however, political jokes seem to have lost their previous significance. In order to understand what has happened to the political jokes in Slovenia, an analysis of two hundred jokes shared on the five most popular Slovenian Facebook groups has been conducted. The collection consists of classical jokes and nonclassical jokes (anecdotes, witty wisdom, memes). Our goal was to identify the nature of the most frequent targets of jokes and which jokes are the most popular. The data file includes 194 posts, videos (n=6) were not deposited in the archive. Information regarding videos can be found in the codebook. As in all Eastern European countries, political jokes were very popular in Slovenia during the socialist era.
