Abstract

In the spring of 2022, Statistics Norway (SSB) conducted a survey on the competence of teaching staff in primary and lower secondary schools. The survey was funded by the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training (Udir). The survey was conducted as a combined web and telephone survey. The sample consisted of 6,000 teachers who were registered as salaried employees with an employment percentage of more than 50 percent in primary and lower secondary school in the 2020/2021 school year.

The target population for the survey was teachers (based on occupational code, not education) who taught in primary and lower secondary schools in the 2021/2022 school year, and who had at least a 50 percent position. Teachers are included irrespective of the subjects they teach and whether they are qualified or not.
