Abstract

The socialization and development of attitudes relevant to occupation and education among prospective teachers in Baden-Wuerttemberg. Topics: In order to determine change in attitudes in the course of college and at transfer into occupation a panel survey with 5 waves was conducted. In all 5 surveys the following questions and scales were presented in unchanged form: Constance questionnaire for school and education attitudes (KSE) with the subtests all-round education, tendency orientation, occupation orientation, pressure orientation, negative reform readiness and the way one sees oneself as educationalist; questionnaire to record Machiavellianism and conservatism; direct attitudes (FBE) with the subscales directivity and extroversion; personality questionnaire (PF) with the subtests aggression, dominance, excitability, depression, suppression of aggression and inhibition; adapted version of the Survey of Interpersonal Values; questionnaire on self-judgement and social statistics. The following instruments were not presented in all waves: Questions on situation of studies and choice of occupation (first wave); questionnaire on occupational self-respect (second, third and fourth wave); questionnaire to record the social environment in the teacher-training college (second wave) with the subscales integration, contacts, university vicinity, freedom of studies, college policy problems and activities, relevance of studies in practice, contacts with persons outside of the teacher-training college as well as judgement on the subjects education, psychology, sociology and political science; questionnaire to record the social environment in elementary school with the subscales: working conditions, attitudes to regulations and arrangement of occupation at school, isolation and conformity pressure on the part of colleagues, discrepancy between expectations and occupational reality, school education deficiencies and seminar education deficiencies.
