Abstract

Motives of foreign students for studies in Germany and evaluation of acceptance in the Federal Republic. Topics: Differences between the image of Germany before arrival and currently; type and sources of information about the FRG; length of stay; desired occupation; equal opportunities of choice of occupation with studies in native country; intensity of contacts with study colleagues and university personnel; organization of leisure time; letter contacts with home; difficulties in house-hunting; contacts with the German population; discrimination experienced; attitude to the German population (semantic differential); assumed heterostereotype; re-orientation of demands; political, cultural and economic knowledge about the FRG; political attitude; financial situation; language proficiency; media usage; social origins; time budget. Demography: age (classified); citizenship; marital status; number of children; age und number of siblings; religious denomination; religiousness, regional origins. Interviewer rating: willingness of respondent to cooperate; presence of other persons; language proficiency; external impression.
