Abstract
For the project "Women in the Norwegian Armed Forces" a questionnaire survey was carried out in 1993.
The purpose of the project was to survey attitudes towards women in the Armed Forces among both male and female officers, with particular emphasis on leadership.
All female officers in 1993 were part of the selection. In addition, a group of male respondents with major degrees or lower was selected.
In the survey, questions were asked about military career, education, degree, psychosocial working conditions, the relationship with the family, reason for the career choice, level of conflict and problem-solving between different subordinates/officer levels, which factors are considered important in the relationship between subordinates and officers, ranking of qualities that considers as important in the Armed Forces, principles of military management, as well as various questions about how women in the Armed Forces are perceived.
The study formed the basis for the thesis "Kvinner i Forsvaret, en ressurs eller en plage: en studie av holdninger og oppfatninger blant kvinnelig og mannlig befal i Forsvaret". Bergen, 1994.
