The aims of this project were : (1) to provide reliable statistical information on the composition, numbers and distribution, of the glasshouse workforce classified by a range of socio-economic variables;
(2) to assess labour mobility between glasshouse enterprises within the industry and other sectors of employment. To estimate inflows and outflows from the workforce and the rates of recruitment and turnover;
(3) to provide knowledge of the career structure of the sector.

(1) Characteristics of holdings involved in glasshouse crops production, e.g. area, crops grown, size of workforce;
(2) Characteristics of individuals working on these holdings, e.g. age, sex, job title, hours worked, educational qualifications.
