Abstract

The purpose of this study was to elucidate the views of the Chief Municipal Health and Social Welfare Officers on the primary general medical services and the regular general practitioner scheme, in addition to the contractual relationship between the municipality and the doctors. The Chief Municipal Health and Social Welfare Officers were mostly satisfied with the medical services in their municipality. They experienced a lack of influence on contractual decisions and that it was the doctor's wishes that were influential. When it comes to the regular general practitioner scheme, the majority wished that the per capita grant should be determined centrally, and it was mostly the small municipalities with a high physician density that feared recruitment problems.
