Abstract

This project linked data from a patient database for persons in the MMT-treatment in Norway in the period 1997-2003 and criminal record data (convictions). The aim of the study was to investigate crime among MMT patients and how treatment affected the incidence of and patterns of crime. The projects aims was to investigate the relationship between MMT and crime reduction in Norway based on a multidisciplinary approach. The project was designed to accommodate a cross-registry examination. The overall aim was to acquire a better understanding of changes in crime patterns for patients on MMT still being criminally active, as well as examine the rate of crime reduction for patients entering MMT in Norway.
