Abstract

Recording the communication processes between the political system and the voter. Political attitudes; judgement on parties and politicians. Topics: Judgement on the current economic situation in the Federal Republic and expectation for the next year; judgement on the current economic situation in the new states and expectation for the next year; most able governing party for positive economic development in the FRG; interest in politics; regularly reading the Bild tabloid; daily newspapers regularly read; preference for parties in the election campaign by the daily newspapers named; most important political problems in the FRG; postmaterialism; intent to participate in the election; party preference (first vote and second vote); expected winner of the coming Federal Parliament election; sympathy scale for Federal Chancellor Kohl and candidate for chancellor Lafontaine; preference for federal chancellor; self-classification on a left-right continuum; preference for governmental or non-governmental solution of the economic problems in the new states; assumed position of the individual parties on this question; attitude to restriction of the right to asylum, the question of abortion as well as assumed position of the parties on these questions; preference of financing the costs of unity of the nation through increased indebtedness or tax increase and assumed position of the parties on this question; behavior at the polls in the last Federal Parliament election or in the election to the Berlin House of Representatives; membership in organizations, trade union, associations and initiatives; personally most important organizations; membership in a party; religious affiliation; religiousness; year of birth; month of birth; sex; occupational position; frequency of political discussion with the primary respondent; stating the political topics discussed and frequency of different opinions.
