This survey was undertaken in order to evaluate the effectiveness of Employment Rehabilitation Centres and to make recommendations concerning their improvement or further development.

Variables
Backgrounds, personal and social circumstances, ERC course experiences and post-course experiences over a period of one year after ERC attendance of a sample of some 300 disabled ERC clients. Data was collected in various ways, using several different techniques, including interviews, assessments, objectives tests and self-reports. Data included sample members' previous educational, health and work records, personal and social circumstances at the time of attendance; medical condition (physical and psychiatric) at the start of courses; formal assessments of intelligence, motivation, workshop performance and psychosocial attributes such as confidence, anxiety, self-esteem and adjustment to disability; details of courses followed and course decision making. A series of follow-up interviews was conducted one year after courses were completed.
