In 1996, Statistics Norway introduced a new system for surveys related to the level of living. Starting in 1997, two Level of Living surveys are carried out annually; a cross-sectional survey with rotating topics in the fall, and a panel survey topically focused on health, residence and work in the spring. Abstract

Statistics Norway's (SSB) Level of living - cross-section study (with rotating themes) have as it's primary objective to, over time, cover all important issues concerning the level of living. The topics have rotated in the following way: Working conditions in 1996, 2000, 2003, 2006 and 2009; Living conditions, community and leisure in 1997, 2001, 2004 og 2007; Health in 1998, 2002, 2005 and 2008. The issues that are covered in 2000 include the following: Working environment Membership in organisations Health problems Working conditions Life changes Disabilites Desire of early retirement The dataset includes a supplementary sample that in 2000 consisted of teachers.
