In 1996 Statistics Norway introduced a new system for surveys related to the level of living. Starting in 1997, two Level of Living surveys are carried out annually; a cross-sectional survey with rotating topics in the fall, and a panel survey topically focused on health, residence and work in the spring. Abstract

Statistics Norway's (SSB) Level of living - cross-section study (with rotating themes) have as it's primary objective to, over time, cover all important issues concerning the level of living. The topics have rotated in the following way: Working conditions in 1996, 2000, 2003 and 2006; Living conditions, community and leisure in 1997, 2001, 2004 og 2007; Health in 1998, 2002 and 2005. The main topic of the Level of Living Survey 2006 is working conditions. The issues that are covered includes: Working conditions Physical working environment Work with computer equipment Working hours Management Psychosocial working environment Company health service Workplace accidents Absence due to illness Adjustments in the work of elderly people In comparison to earlier studies, the 2006 survey represents a change; the survey is expanded with a big sample, and are from this year on established as a panel. This is done mainly to be able to distinguish between occupational groups and (partly) subgroups. Additional register variables concerning income are added.
