The purpose of this study was to specify the relationship between annoyance with road traffic noise and the characteristics of the traffic noise, of the traffic patterns, of the neighbourhoods, and of the individual.

Interview data were collected on annoyance with various sources, evaluation of other aspects of neighbourhood, sleeping patterns, attitudes towards noise generally and demographic characteristics. In addition, data was gathered on noise levels and several physical aspects of the area.
