Abstract
Furnishing of household with equipment of entertainment electronics.
Mail order purchases.
Topics: detailed recording of possession, number, location, brand
designation, main user and acquisition time of television sets, video
recorders or cameras, stereo systems, home radios, portable radios,
cassette tape recorders and radio cassette equipment for the car.
The following additional questions were posed in case of acquisition
of the above-mentioned equipment as well as of a Walkman in the last 6
months before the survey: brand and type designation of the equipment;
predominant location; exact purchase price; type of business; purchase
month; purchase or gift; purchased used; main user; acquisition year;
usability and use of the previous equipment; possession of video
camera; possession of film camera; use of video recorder; purchase
decision and product information used; frequency of recording
television broadcasts; use of pre-programability of video recorder;
frequency of trips to video renters; number, characteristics and main
borrower of videocassettes; preferred video films; frequency of use of
video camera within and outside of the house; possession of record
player and reel-to-reel tape recorder.
Mail-order purchases: degree of familiarity of mail-order firms or
mail-order businesses; judgement on performance of known mail-order
firms; possession of catalog; mail-order firms used up to now; customer
of mail-order firm; judgement on offerings of selected mail-order
firms; judgement on quality and value of individual mail-order firms
regarding special product groups; memory of advertising statements of
individual mail-order firms.
Miscellaneous: possession of video games; manufacturer and purchase
price as well as number of video game cassettes; main user of the video
games; interest in possession of a record player and video game device;
changes in expenditure structure of selected consumer areas in
