Sampling procedure
As the ´starting person´ for the so-called network survey all persons
were selected from the sample of the survey of families (n = 10043)
who fulfilled the following criteria: age at the main survey in
autumn 1988 between 18 and 32 years, at this point in time living
together with partner/spouse, and at least one person present from
both the generation of the parents (parents or partner´s parents) and
the grandparents (one´s own or partner´s grandparents).
In the master sample - the survey of families - 1323 persons
fulfilled the criteria mentioned.
Besides the starting person one of his parents was interviewed (if
not available then instead one of the partner´s parents). Beyond this
one of the partner´s parents and one person of the grandparents´ generation.
