Abstract

UniSAFE (https://unisafe-gbv.eu/) is a Horizon 2020 funded project on gender-based violence in academia. It has a double objective, to produce robust knowledge on gender-based violence (GBV) in universities and research organisations, and to translate the knowledge into operational tools and recommendations for universities, research organisations and policymakers to reduce GBV. The project studies the prevalence and impacts of GBV, organisational responses and instruments and legal and policy frameworks. This dataset has been created as part of the study of the legal and policy frameworks and is comprised of data from a survey into national laws and policies. The survey has been constructed to capture elementary information about the debates and the existence of national and/or regional legislation, policies, strategies, and various other activities related to GBV in universities and research organisations and adopted by national/regional RFOs. In addition, the survey included items related to the debates surrounding the #MeToo movement (or other similar/related movement if relevant) and the ratification of the Istanbul Convention.
