Study title

The dataset contains survey and register data regarding the members of municipal councils and municipal boards in 2017. The dataset combines data on the elected officials' membership of municipal councils and municipal boards and data from the election data system of the Ministry of Justice. The survey data chart information on the members of municipal councils and municipal boards, including their position in the council or the board at the beginning of the 2017-2021 council term and their political party in the 2017 municipal elections. Additionally, the combined data comprise the following variables: the name and classification of the municipality in 2017, electoral district, number of advance votes received in elections, number of votes received on election day, and information on whether the elected official had previously been an MP, a member of the European Parliament, a municipal councillor, or a regional councillor. Background variables included the respondent's gender, age on election day (categorised), and mother tongue.
