The "Level of Living"- concept dates back to a large-scale government initiated project from 1972. Until 1995, this type of studies was carried out by 3-4 year intervals, to determine the real living conditions of different population groups. The Level of Living Survey 1987, was the third that was planned and conducted by Statistics Norway.The purpose is to provide data and knowledge of living conditions as a basis for public policy.
