Abstract
Questions on European politics and especially the European Election.
The data set contains parts of Eurobarometer 42 concentrating on the
European Election. The data set is archived in a cumulated form on four
studies under ZA Study No. 2865. Topics: Among others the following
questions were posed: general contentment with life; postmaterialism;
expected development of personal situation, one´s own financial
situation and the job situation in the coming year; expected general
economic development of the country; frequency of obtaining news on
television, radio and daily newspapers; national pride and reasons for
national pride; self-classification of political orientation; general
interest in politics and special interest in European politics;
satisfaction with democracy on municipal, national and European level;
European citizenship; approval of European unification; attitude to
membership of the country in the EU and advantageousness of membership
for one´s country; desired national or European responsibility for
political departments and selected political measures; desire for
increased information about the European Union; information noticed
about the European Parliament, the European Commission, the council of
ministers, the European Court of Justice, the Common Market and the
Maastricht Treaty; approval of future membership of Austria, Finland,
Sweden, Norway, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, the Slovak
Republic, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovenia in the EU; personal election
participation; behavior at the polls; political areas to which the
European Parliament should give particular attention; assessment of the
proportion of foreigners in the country; perceived disturbances from
people of other nationality, another race or other religion.
