Abstract
The aim of this project is:
1) identifying key opinion and affiliation aspect of religiosity and religious world view among Vietnamese-Norwegian children, youngsters and adults belonging to the Catholic and Buddhist community within the Vietnamese minority community in a part of Rogaland.
- What these various religious groups believe, and how their faith is expressed in social life
- How the faith gets its culturally specific expression in the meeting between Norwegian and Vietnamese culture and within the framework of the structural condition given by the Norwegian and the West Norwegian exile lifestyle
- How Vietnamese-Norwegian Catholicism and Buddhism is communicated to the younger generation
- What kind of importance and function the religious faith have for the Vietnamese, especially young people's, self-understanding and integration endeavour facing the society
2) through this the aim is to create a vantage point for comparative perspectives on the Norwegian religious view, especially considering the Christian faith regarding influence from the modern secular society, and
3) to contribute so that researcher, and others, is going to be a more competent when talking with Vietnamese-Norwegian children, youngsters, parents, voluntaries and professionales regarding questions about upbringing, faith and integration.
The data material consists of semi-structured interviews.
