Abstract

On behalf of the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government, the opinion research institute Kantar surveys attitudes towards climate protection and the assessment of political measures for climate protection on a quarterly basis. In the 2nd quarter of 2021, questions on energy and construction formed a thematic focus.
Concern about the consequences of climate change; assessment of the appropriateness of political measures for climate protection; informedness about possibilities to personally contribute to climate protection; attitude towards electricity prices, heating costs, food prices, fuel prices, public transport costs; assessment of the speed of the coal phase-out; assessment of the speed of the nuclear phase-out; assessment of the speed of the energy transition; personal measures for more climate-friendly electricity; Knowledge of political measures for climate protection (state subsidies for the replacement of old oil heating systems, introduction of a CO2 tax for petrol, diesel, heating oil and natural gas, subsidies for electricity costs for low-income earners, tax subsidies for the energy-efficient refurbishment of buildings, higher state purchase premium for electric cars); assessment of these political measures as sensible. Demography: sex; age; highest level of education; occupation; household size; number of persons in the household aged 14 and over; party preference; voter eligibility; household net income (grouped); survey by mobile or landline. Additionally coded: respondent ID; weighting factor; interview date; city size (BIK regions); federal state; survey area west/east.
