Abstract
Under the title “Data Handbook of Academic Careers between 1850-1945”, this study aims at the publication and analysis of data concerning the individual steps of six great academic careers between the mid-19th and the mid-20th century, tracing the professional development of Evangelical theologians, lawyers, physicians, higher education lecturers, engineers, and chemists in the territories of Prussia und Germany by means of a thorough data collection. This handbook comprises and describes the most important steps in the course of these academic careers within the above-mentioned academic domains. The examined career steps are marked by successive events during in the career entry phases and the professional lives, such as length of studies, examination quotas, graduation and doctorate, employment ratios, age structure, etc.
