Abstract
Topic of the study is the question about the causes for Bavarian’s economic success compared with other German Federal states.
On the basis of the question according to the causes for the Bavarian’s success concernig the economic development, the object of investigation is limited on the economic sector of the industry. The area under investigation refers to Bavarian’s most important industrial cities. The period of the study is from 1925 to 1975. In the context of this work the author attempts to examine the development factors’ explanatory content on komparativ statistic way.
The aim of the investigation is to answer, which factors for Bavarian’s dynamic industrialisation were of importance.
The work is essentially based on the evaluation of different statiscical sources, notably of the statistic yearbooks of German municipalities (Statistischen Jahrbücher deutscher Gemeinden ) as well as the operational data provided by the enterprises for the investigation.
The development of the 13 most important Bavarian industrial cities in comparison to each other and to Bavaria at large is analysed.
Furthermore, the author contrasts Bavarian’s development with the development of the German Reich, of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) and with the development of single German Federal states, which are comparable with Bavaria in size and population.
Thereby the economic sectors, the industy all in all as well as the individual industrial groups are compared.

- Number of companies and average size of companies
- realized transaction volume and realized foreign transaction volume
- in part: salaries and wages
