Statistics Norway has conducted quarterly surveys on use of media since 1991. In addition to the pure media usage survey, it has every four years were questioned about the use of cultural activities. The purpose of the survey is to give an account of the population's consumption of media and culture over time. The information is useful for governments and others who requires knowledge of people's media and cultural habits.

Abstract

This dataset is based on "Culture and Mass Media Survey 2015", conducted by Statistics Norway. In addition to the quarterly media surveys that Statistics Norway conducts, this data set also includes as a separate cultural section. Culture and Mass Media surveys have been conducted in 1991, 1994, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2015. The purpose of this study is to provide a comprehensive presentation of the Norwegians' use of different types of mass media and cultural facilities and the supply of entertainment. The survey conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, with financial support of the Norwegian Media Authority. The sample of the study consits of people i Norway between 9-79 years of age.
