Abstract

The interview study charted male experiences of myocardial infarction (commonly known as 'heart attack' or 'heart failure') from the viewpoints of coping with a sudden, life-threatening illness and of being a patient. Main themes were treatment, emotions, changes in world view, other people's reactions, health, ways of living, sex, eating habits, smoking, rehabilitation, and time spent in hospital. The data include 17 interview transcripts in Finnish. The dataset is only available in Finnish.
