Abstract
This project explored the extent of platform cooperativism in the UK. The research specifically sought to investigate platform cooperatives working to provide alternatives to existing ‘gig economy’ platforms or in the area of cooperative technology, digital design and data ownership, as well as the wider network of organisations supporting them. A series of interviews was conducted to understand the types of organisations working in this area, why they are doing so, how they have gone about carrying out their work, and the challenges they have faced. This collection contains five semi-structured qualitative interviews. The sample consists of two individuals working within existing platform cooperatives in the UK and four individuals working for organisations supporting the development of the (platform) cooperative movement. Interviews were carried out either in person or via Skype and Zoom. Participants were given a short introduction to the study and consent was obtained prior to the interview being recorded. Each interview lasted approximately one hour.
